What Can You Make With Silpaulin XF?
Silpaulin XF started as a solution for one problem: how to make a protective cover that actually holds up outdoors. The answer, a multilayered cross-laminated polyethylene film developed in collaboration with Rasmussen Polymer Development AG in Switzerland, turned out to be versatile enough to serve a much wider range of applications than covers alone. Here is a look at where the material is currently used, and where it performs best.

Garden furniture covers
This is the primary application in the European market. Silpaulin XF is used to produce covers for full dining sets, corner sofas, stacking chairs, garden benches, hammocks, and cushion storage bags. The material is heat-sealed rather than stitched, which eliminates the most common failure point in traditional covers: seam leakage. It is available in natural, taupe, silver grey, black, and green, with custom sizing produced to the exact dimensions of a furniture range. For the full catalogue of garden and patio furniture cover configurations, see the Supreme Industries export marketing page.

BBQ and grill covers
BBQ covers are one of the highest-volume applications in the consumer outdoor market. The material handles grease residue, UV exposure, and temperature fluctuations across seasons without degrading. Covers can be produced for kettle grills, gas grills, fire pits, and kamado-style units, with zipped openings and drawstring bases as options. The 90 GSM weight is standard for this category.

Parasol and lounger covers
Parasols and sun loungers are left outdoors for months, exposed to UV rays, moisture, and wind. Silpaulin XF's UV stabilisation runs through the full material thickness, not just a surface coating, which means the film does not degrade from the inside out the way many coated polyester covers do. Parasol covers in particular benefit from the localised tear property: a sharp patio umbrella rib is a common cause of damage in thinner materials.

Pool, spa, and fire pit covers
Fully waterproof and chemical-resistant, the material is suited for pool covers, spa lids, and fire pit covers that need to seal completely against standing water. The ultrasonically welded eyelet option allows secure tie-down without compromising the waterproof surface.
Industrial tarpaulins and vehicle covers
Beyond consumer garden products, Silpaulin XF is used for heavy-duty tarpaulins covering vehicles, trailers, timber stacks, and construction sites. The cross-laminated structure distributes stress across the film rather than concentrating it at any single point, which is why the material holds under wind load and weight far better than single-layer HDPE. The 160 to 300 GSM range covers industrial-grade requirements.
