The process of turning animal skin into leather is known as tanning or dressing, and it dates back to 2200 BCE. In the past, manufacturing leather required drying the skins in the sun before softening it by pounding it in animal fat. Because historically humans could shield themselves from the weather and warm themselves with leather, it is vital that leather was discovered. Full grain, top grain, genuine, split grain, and bonded leather are the four different varieties of leather.
